INDIVIDUAL LESSONS 

Individual / one-on-one lessons are  also available starting from £165 for a 3 hour session per person and additional time at £60 per hour unless you would prefer to pay for another 3 hour session. If you request for the lessons to be held at your home, there will be extra 30% of the initial cost of the session and also £1.50 per mile for travel costs.  A non refundable deposit of £50 is required before any booking can be confirmed and the balance paid in full on the day of the training, 

 

Private Group Lessons

Group of friends or family members comprising of a minimum of 3 students,  start from £120 per person for a 3 hour session at the African Cultural Association. Fees must be paid before the session begins on receipt of the invoice. A non refundable deposit of £50 is required before any booking can be confirmed and the balance paid in full on the day of the training,

BEGINNER LEVEL 1 £240

DURATION: 4 days (hands on intensive training)

  • Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays or 2 Saturdays 

  • Total of 16 hours

TIMES: 

  • Mon - Fri (except wednesdays): 10am – 2pm

  • Sat: 10am - 6pm

CONTRIBUTION:

  • £15 per hour

  • Initial deposit £100, payment plan available

  • All payments are non-refundable and non-transferable

ENTRY REQUIREMENT:

  • No prior experience or skills necessary

  • Must have a genuine interest

CERTIFICATION:

  • Certificate of attendance

  • Certificate of Achievement/Completion after assessment

WHO IS THIS COURSE FOR?

This course is for anyone who:

  • Wants to learn how to braid, twists and weave (cornrow) their own natural hair.

  • Wants a career change. 

  • Have children with curly hair types who have no previous experience.

  • Are health care providers and volunteers who take care of people with Afro-Caribbean  Hair type.

  • Want to make some extra cash doing the hair of your family and friends, 

WHAT WILL YOU LEARN? 

  • Understanding the nature of Afro hair.

  • The importance of carrying out a client consultation before styling.

  • How to look out for hair and scalp conditions such as dandruff, dry hair breakage, traction alopecia, excessive hair shedding.

  • How to transition from chemical processed hair to natural hair.

  • Hand coordination and positioning to avoid hair breakage and help hair growth.

  • How to care for natural hair care on wash days and after protective styling.

  • Natural hair drying techniques - air and blow drying

  • Natural hair styling - twists outs, bantu knots.

  • Introduction to Plaits on natural hair.

  • Introduction to weaving on natural hair without extensions for styles such as didi, shuku, pattern, criss cross, zig zag.

  • Introduction to 2 strand twists and flat twists

  • Proper hygiene to prevent cross infection between clients and sterilizing tools. 

  • Understanding the weather conditions for your hair. 

INTERMEDIATE LEVEL £320

DURATION: 4 days (hands on intensive training)

  • Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays or 2 Saturdays 

  • Total of 16 hours

  • Mon - Fri (except wednesdays): 10am – 2pm

  • Sat: 10am - 6pm

CONTRIBUTION:

  • £20 per hour

  • Initial deposit £100, payment plan available

ENTRY REQUIREMENT:

  • Some experience or skills necessary to build on

  • Must have a genuine interest

CERTIFICATION:

  • Certificate of attendance

  • Certificate of Achievement/Completion after assessment.

WHO IS THIS COURSE FOR?

This course is for anyone who:

  • Wants to learn build on their previous knowledge and skills of braiding and weaving.

  • Wants to career change 

WHAT WILL YOU LEARN? 

  • The importance of carrying out a client consultation before styling.

  • Identifying different types of extensions with their uses, measuring and prepping extensions, mixing colours (2/3 toned and ombre).

  • Introduction to weaving natural hair with extensions - Ghana, Feed in, stitch cornrows without extensions and crochet weave styles.

  • Understanding sectioning and cutting patterns - box/squares, triangle, fishscale, diagonal, parallel. and more.

  • Introduction to twists - Senegalese, Afro kinky, Spring and Havana twists styles.

  • Introduction to braids - regular, knottless and bob with finishing techniques.

  • After care and maintenance.

  • Assessment preparation.

ADVANCED  LEVEL £400

DURATION: 4 days (hands on intensive training)

  • Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays or 2 Saturdays 

  • Total of 16 hours

  • Sat: 10am - 6pm

CONTRIBUTION:

  • £25 per hour

  • Initial deposit £100, payment plan available

  • Must have Intermediate or Level 3 experience

  • Must have a genuine interest

CERTIFICATION:

  • Certificate of attendance

  • Certificate of Achievement/Completion after assessment

This course is for anyone who:

  • Has extensive knowledge or skills and wants to progress onto the next level.

  • Wants to start their own business and earn more money.

  • Wants to become a good hair stylist.

WHAT WILL YOU LEARN? 

  • Advanced haircare and treatments.

  • Advanced braiding styles faux locs, distressed locs/butterfly locs and passion braids.

  • Advanced cornrows with extensions - stitch feed in  cornrows with extensions, KET styles  and patterned side cornrows.
